Welcome to Terry Espejo's Portfolio

This website tells a tale of learning and discovery.  It gives you a glimpse into my personal and professional educational journey.  You will peer into my life in the classroom as an educator as seen through the lenses of others.  You will read about of some of my beliefs, my successes and challenges.  You will read about what I try to do in education and get an idea where I have been, what I have done and where I hope to go.....

The menu to your left categorizes the information in this site.  The first section provides some opening quotes from people I had the opportunity to work with.

The second category contains ideas about a locally developed course and presents an outline to guide a Carrier Sekani First Nations course.  A scope and sequence with prescribed learning outcomes can be generated from this outline for students in kindergarten to grade 12.  Also, an  idea for an Outreach program for 'high risk" youth for students in the intermediate and secondary grade levels is proposed.

The third category has a collection of reference letters from past students, colleagues, supervisors and employers.

The fourth category provides teacher evaluations and an assistant-principal performance appraisal.

The fifth category shows newspaper and other articles written about my involvements in education.

The sixth category contains other supporting documents.

The seventh category contains pictures of myself, colleagues and some of my students making bannock at the Eagle Center (a drop in for Aboriginal and other students at PGSS).

The eight category has contact information.

The last category contains workshop presentations on Classroom Management and Understanding and Dealing with Student Behavior.

As schools prepare to make their first steps into a journey of change, it may be of utility to be mindful that 21st Century Learning, according to some scholars "addresses the whole child" and is student centered. Moreover, skills are learned through a curriculum which is..."interdisciplinary, integrated, and project based for life aimed at engaging students in addressing real-world problems and issues...". The teacher moves from being a dispenser of knowledge to "...an orchestrator of learning..." (www.21stcenturyschools.com).  T. Espejo, Letter to Editor, Prince George Citizen, March 8, 2011.
